Tate Modern

The Tate Modern in London has launched a virtual reality exhibit. This is the first time a major art gallery has used VR in a permanent exhibition.

In a press release, HTC said that the Modigliani VR experience will give visitors "a new perspective on the artist's works." By wearing the headset, they will be able to visit the Paris studio where the sculptor worked. It will also include commentary from Tate experts.

The virtual reality experience is the centerpiece of the Modigliani show at the Tate. It will run until April 2nd.

Sandbox VR

Sandbox VR is a location-based virtual reality startup that's opening its first UK venue this summer. It's not the only company claiming to offer an immersive experience.

Sandbox uses a bespoke game studio to put players in touch with the world around them. The facility boasts an impressive array of virtual reality technology, including motion capture cameras and 3D precision full-body tracking.

The new London site is located in the heart of Covent Garden. Its capacity of 300 makes it one of the largest virtual reality venues in Europe. Guests can play free-roam team games in full-on haptic suits.
