Phishing

While malware relies on technical factors to cause harm, phishing exploits human weaknesses. These attacks involve duping people into disclosing sensitive information or clicking on links that install malware on their devices. They are frequently used as the starting point for a larger, more damaging attack.

Phishing is frequently carried out through emails in which cybercriminals pose as authority figures or have enticing news. These messages frequently play on people's fears or desires in order to get them to act quickly and without thinking. Many users, for example, claim to be prize winners or to be in legal trouble.

Threats from within

While the majority of cybersecurity threats originate from outside an organisation, some of the most dangerous originate from within. Insider threats occur when someone with authorised access, such as an employee, intentionally or unintentionally threatens a system.

Many insider threats are harmless. This occurs when an authorised user falls victim to phishing or posts on the incorrect account, unintentionally endangering the system. Others may act maliciously, such as a disgruntled ex-employee retaliating against their former employer by installing malware on their computers.

Obtaining a Cyber Security Course is vital for upskilling and staying current in the workplace.
