History
The roots of Cardiff University trace back to the establishment of the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire in 1883. Initially serving as a founding college, it later evolved into the University of Wales in 1893. However, it wasn't until 1997 that the institution gained autonomy to confer degrees.
In 1988, a significant collaboration occurred with the esteemed University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology. This partnership marked a pivotal moment in the university's history.
