  1. Mohinder Amarnath (VC)- Amarnath was India's most prolific performer at the 1983 World Cup. In addition to his courageous personality, he is known for his determination. Although he struggled to play pace, he became one of India's best batsmen against pacers. Amarnath scored 237 runs and took 8 wickets in eight matches during the 1983 World Cup. He was India’s game-changer and played a big role in India lifting the cup.
  2. The 1983 World Cup squad was captained by Kapil Dev, a legend of the game. A fast-medium bowler and a hard hitter, Kapil batted lower down the order. He scored 303 runs in 8 innings including a 175 not-out vs Zimbabwe. He also took 12 wickets in the tournament.
  3. Syed Kirmani- Syed Kirmani was India’s wicket-keeper in the 1983 World Cup who took some really amazing catches. He scored 61 runs in his 6 innings in the tournament.

  2. Madan Lal- Madan Lal was one of the best fast bowlers in the Indian cricket team during the 1980s. He took 17 wickets in the tournament.
  3. Roger Binny- Binny was India’s premier bowler in the tournament. He took 18 wickets, the highest by anyone in the cup.
  4. Sunil Valson- Sunil Valson was the backup fast bowler who unfortunately did not play a single game in the tournament.
  5. Balwinder Singh Sandhu- Sandhu, a fast-bowler played 8 matches and picked 8 wickets in all.
  6. Krishnamachari Srikkanth- Srikkanth opened the batting for India, he top-scored in the final with a 57-ball 38-run knock.
  7. Sandeep Patil- Patil batting in the lower-middle order played some really quick and crucial knocks including a 32-ball 51* knock in the semi-final vs England.
  8. Kirti Azad- Kirti Azad played 3 matches and took 1 big wicket of Ian Botham.
  9. Dilip Vengsarkar- Dilip was able to play only 2 matches owing to an injury. He scored 37 runs in India’s 1983 World Cup campaign.
  10. Ravi Shastri- Ravi Shastri was selected in playing 11 in 5 matches. He took 4 wickets in the tournament.
