Reconnection Rituals, Nurturing Bonds Beyond Preschool & Daycare

Image

As children grow, their social worlds expand. They start going to schools, day cares, for various activities, may it be swimming, gymnastics, games, or in some cases, tuitions. They are on their own at these places, without their parents or caregiver.

With their mental and emotional worlds developing parallelly, they gradually begin to feel more, think more, communicate more, experience relationships- with teachers, friends etc. The points of reconnection become important here. These are time when you meet your child after the child returns to you after they have been on their own for some time. These points hold a lot of potential for regulation, connection and release for this child.

When your child meets you after a long day or a short activity, and when you hold them, give them loving attention, even for 10-15 minutes, the connection that is strongly experienced by you and your child helps the child feel safe again. This time helps them express and release anything that they need to (eg. if they got angry with someone or hurt by someone while they were away). If they need to calm down your regulated nervous system in these moments can help with that. These moments of touching base also strengthen your bond with your child.

At Aajol a Preschool & Daycare in Pune, we understand how important these everyday reunions are. Whether a child is returning from play, rest, or a learning activity, we create gentle transitions and emotional touch    points that help them feel safe and supported. As one of the best preschools & daycares in Pune, Aajol encourages strong bonds between caregivers, children, and families — because we know that emotional safety is the foundation for joyful learning and growing.

Activity:

When you meet your child after a short or long while, make sure you keep all distractions away, get down on your knees and hold your child close. If the child doesn’t want to be held, make sure you talk to them, engage with them, play with them, laugh with them- whatever comes to you two spontaneously. Make sure you give at least 10 -15 minutes for your child where the child receives focused, loving, positive attention without any instructions or lessons.
