A forged steel gate valve is a commonly used gate valve made with forging material. When the valve stem is operated, the gate on the threaded part of the stem travels vertically. It is mostly employed when a fluid flow in a straight line with minimal restriction is desired.
The gate is completely pushed up into the valve once the valve is wide open, leaving an entrance for flow. As a result, the flow restriction through the valve is minimal.
