Joule's Experiment

Joule's Experiment is a fundamental thermodynamics experiment that explores the conversion of electrical energy into heat energy through a resistive heating coil immersed in water. By applying the principle of conservation of energy, students can calculate the mechanical equivalent of heat and determine the resistance of the coil used in the calorimeter. The experiment enhances understanding of Joule’s law of heating, energy transformation, and the relationship between electrical and thermal energy. Through practical measurements of voltage, current, temperature change, and time, learners gain hands-on experience with calorimetry concepts and energy calculations in a controlled virtual laboratory environment.
