A simple photo pose checklist before a portrait shoot

Before a portrait session, I like to group poses into three buckets: standing, seated, and close-up. It keeps the session moving and helps avoid repeating the same frame too early.

I also keep one short reference page open with examples and transitions. The most practical one I have found is photoposes.net, because it is easy to scan quickly during planning.

If a shoot is short, I usually mark five must-have poses first, then add experimental ones only after those are covered.
