September 2026: Status page, unpublish posts, custom domain links, and better formatting

September brings a fresh batch of improvements and fixes to Telescope — a few you asked for, and a few that simply make writing and reading nicer. Here is what is new.

Check our status any time

Want to know if Telescope is running? There is now a public status page at status.telescope.ac. It shows the live health of the site and its services, so you can always check for yourself.

Unpublish a post

That’s something that got lost during the transition from the older version of Telescope: you can now take a published post back to a draft. Changed your mind, or spotted a typo the moment after you hit publish? Open the post, open the actions menu, and choose "Revert to draft". The public page comes down, your content stays safe, and you can polish it and publish again whenever you are ready.

Custom domain links that stay put

Before, links inside your blog quietly sent readers back to telescope.ac. It was clearly a bug and it’s fixed now — every link keeps your readers on your own domain.

Cleaner formatting

Two small changes that make a real difference to how your posts read:

  • Images with space. Every image now gets space above and below, so it no longer bumps into your text.

  • Blank lines doesn’t disappear anymore. Add an empty paragraph between two paragraphs and the space finally shows on the page — exactly as you intended.

Readable in the dark

Reading in dark mode? The "6 min read" label used to be dark text on a dark background — practically invisible. It is now light and easy to read.

Faster and steadier

Under the hood, pages load faster and the service runs more reliably.

One more thing…

Something big is coming in October. We are not ready to say what it is just yet — but trust us, it is worth the wait. Stay put. 🔭

Thank you for writing with us.
