Microsoft Azure API Management is a completely managed service which allows APIs to be uploaded, secured, converted, maintained and monitored by users. You may build an API frontage with a few clicks in the Azure portal that serves as a front door" from which external and internal apps can acquire files or business logic enforced by your custom backend systems running on Azure, such as App Service .
API Administration manages all of the activities involved in mediating API calls, including authentication and permission for requests, rate cap and quota compliance, transformation of requests and replies, monitoring and tracing, and management of API variants.
This service helps provide the tools your organisation needs for end-to-end API management—everything from provisioning user roles, creating usage plans and quotas, applying policies for transforming payloads, throttling, analytics, monitoring and alerts.
Microsoft Azure implementation provides API management offering the following:
- API Gateway server that allows controlled access to backend services, enforcing throttling and security policies.
- Documentation and Publishing Tools.
- Access Portal for developers to manage API keys, documentation, SDKs.
- Reporting and Analytics to monitor usage and report on trends.
Developer and Standard introduced API control at just two stages. Over time, we have added the Premium tier for corporate customers with high-end capabilities and the Basic tier as an entry-level production tier. All these levels have a shared architecture where a collection of services reserved for their exclusive use are delegated to each API Management service case. Security isolation, instantly available capacity, and protection from noisy neighbors are among the top benefits of this approach.
API Management enables us, right out of the box or by using policies, to quickly disclose our Azure resources. In the API Management we will now delegate our goods to separate APIs that expose our customers.
