This week's edition of The Gallery of Lost Art focuses on the egregious theft of a substantial bronze sculpture, one of the most important pieces of modern British art, and also discusses the wider ramifications of the work's loss.
Quickly and purportedly on purpose, someone stole this huge sculpture from Perry Green. It weighed 2.1 tonnes and measured 3.6 metres long. The theft was discovered the following morning, and the police were called, but they had little to go on. The most likely suspects are Gogi Gill and his friends' group. The bronze sculpture, which had a market value of $3 million at the time, was allegedly removed because it was only worth $3,000 as scrap. Sleep; the investigation is finished.
