SimCity BuildIt - Low effort CoM

How to get 50k quick & easy points for the Club Chest

There’s a Lot of information out there on how to become a CoM superstar and score 190k-200k per week, but almost no advice on how to enjoy this game - and especially CoM - as a casual player.

Here’s the strategy I use when I don't have enough time/energy to play competitive CoM.

How many CoM points should you score to get a decent amount of simcash?

Ideally, you want to score enough to reach tier 42 of the Mayor’s Pass in order to win all the unique buildings in the current season and a final reward worth 1400 simcash (the most important currency in the game). You will need 611k points in 6 weeks to get there. ( Source: r/SCBuidIt )

A 100k weekly average is quite a relaxed goal, but what if we can’t open the game frequently enough to get there? Sometimes we can’t (or we just don’t want) pay so much attention to a game.

We can gain a significant amount of cash just by being part of an active club.

By “active” I mean a club with 18-25 members who open their game often enough to score at least 50k in CoM each week.

Obviously this is quite an arbitrary definition, but with a collective base score of 900k+ every single player in the team is basically granted 50 simcash per week (300 in a season) from the Epic Chest. If the club can reach the Legendary Chest, every member gains 120 simcash per week (720 simcash a season).

War is a less profitable activity, IMHO, but if your team can manage to win a war every week in arena 6 or 7, you can add 50-70 more cash per week to the pile.

You’ve got my point: an active club can be worth anything between 600 and 1100+ cash per season. And every member can contribute to this collective goal even if they don’t have an exorbitant amount of time to play.

Low effort CoM: General strategy

Our Casual Goal is 50k points per week.

50k points per week can be reached by completing:

  • 30 easy (~1k) tasks + 2 easy milestones
  • 20 easy tasks + 3 easy milestones.

Basically, you want to do the opposite of what you are doing when playing competitively:

  1. Focus on the easy milestones early in the contest.
  2. Go for a 1k average: low hanging fruits only.
  3. Don’t be afraid to cancel: you don’t need 60 task.
  4. Don’t waste limited resources on a casual week.

1. Focus on the easy milestones early in the contest

  1. Your goal is gaining something between 20k and 30k from milestones only. The more you can make from the milestones, the less regular tasks you’ll have to complete.
  2. Never pay to switch a milestone, unless you’re absolutely unable to do any of the ones you received. This rule is always valid, no matter if you’re playing casually or competitively.
  3. Complete the easiest milestones in your list as soon as you can and don’t wait to claim the rewards. The only reason why competitive players sometimes wait to claim their rewards from milestones is to prevent an artificial inflation of their average, which may have negative repercussions on the possibility to get more 2k+ task. Since the average we’re going for is the lowest possible in this game, we don’t have to worry about these technicalities: we just want to get rid of the easiest milestone in our list in order to get to the next easy milestone as fast as possible.

Easy/recommended milestones

  • Earn war points: well paying, easy to do, not alienating.
  • Earn Simoleons & trade items: just find a teammate who has the same milestone and trade a bunch of expensive items back and forth until it’s done.
  • Vote in design challenge: this is a super easy milestone, but you must be able to access your phone every hour or so when the challenge is active, which is not always compatible with a busy schedule. Just do what you can and don’t worry.
  • Earn keys: can be completed in a single shot by claiming CoM rewards or just with regular gameplay during the week.
  • Produce and collect industrial and commercial items: these tasks can be completed with regular gameplay during the week. I don’t recommend rushing them unless you’re going for a full marxist alienation experience.

Difficult / unreasonable milestones:

Epics, deliveries, residential upgrades, omega canisters, export HQ: leave them alone and save the precious resources they require for a competitive week.

2. Go for a 1k average: low hanging fruits only.

  • War tasks are the best ones: accept them, no matter how low they are.
  • Earn Coins and Vu related tasks are perfect for a casual week: they are quick and easy to do, they tend to come back in your list pretty quickly and can’t be worth less than 1000 points. Just try not to erode all of your Vu items.
  • Accept P/C tasks even if they are worth less than 1k, unless they are for long/difficult to make items.
  • Depending on your level, War Deliveries may be easy or hard to do. If you have no regions, you may probably consider war deliveries as a low hanging fruit.

3. Don’t be afraid to cancel

Depending on the milestones you received, you may need to complete something between 20 and 30 ~1k tasks. You certainly don’t need 60 assignmets: feel free to cancel until the game gives you something you can actually do.

What to cancel

You want to cancel exactly the good, high paying, expensive assignments you’re hoping for when you are playing to win, such as Airport Deliveries and Upgrade War Cards.

Canceling Residential Upgrades is fine too, if you’re still trying to save experience.

What not to cancel

Expansion tasks: mountain, beach, land and especially storage will come back in a few rounds when completed or canceled. Same for the Monster.

There’s really no point in canceling these tasks, not even in a casual week.

Note: Beach and Mountain are slightly less pestering than the other ones, but I recommend trying something else before, unless you’re really near to the end of the contest.

4. Don’t waste limited resources (namely Simcash and War Card Upgrades) on a casual week.

If you’re not going to gain at least 200 simcash from CoM, the only right amount of cash to invest in it is zero.

Forget Airport/Cargo/Regional Deliveries and Upgrade War Card assignments: these tasks can be completed quickly only if you are ready to invest a bunch of limited resources you are not going to recover in a casual week.
