What is a Saber Certificate?
SASO, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, has developed the Saber Certificate as an electronic way to certify conformity. The Saber platform was introduced with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative to help bring regulated items into the Saudi market. It has replaced the previous handwritten process, making it more convenient for all products to pass Saudi standards and safety checks.
Types of Saber Certificates
There are two main types of Saber Certificates:
1. Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC)
- Required for regulated products (such as electrical appliances, cosmetics, building materials, etc.).
- Valid for one year.
- Issued after evaluating product documents and test reports.
2. Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC)
- Required for each shipment, regardless of whether the product already has a PCoC.
- Ensures that the shipment matches the certified product and includes no alterations.
- Must be obtained before the goods are shipped to Saudi Arabia.
Who Needs a Saber Certificate?
