At the end of each year, it’s popular to review the news of the last 12 months and look ahead to what may be in store in the following 12 months. We at Home2Decor thought it would be fun to take on this project as well! Below are 5 kitchen trends we believe will be hot in 2022, based on what we’ve seen come through our office over the past few years and other work we’ve done outside of our walls to keep up with what’s going on in the design world.
Interiors will be white
With minimalism making a strong comeback in 2018, we predict that kitchens will only continue to get more stripped back. The idea of interiors for all seasons is no longer applicable - interiors are now, more than ever, designed with one season in mind. Wooden Countertops are getting old
A small but growing number of homeowners are opting for glass countertops, which offer a sleek look and are also durable. The only downside? They’re more expensive than granite, marble or quartz countertops. If you can afford it, though, they’re worth it. Next year and in 2022, expect to see an even greater selection of colors and textures than we have now. Glass is just one option—and it’s not going anywhere soon; expect to see much more of it.
Kitchens will have plant walls
Before you start wondering how your kitchen is going to get any greener, know that plant walls aren’t made up of actual plants. Rather, they're artificial plant-like surfaces with a thin film that mimics and attracts moss. As technology improves and scientists create more sustainable ways to turn our homes greener, we can look forward to more of these plant walls in our future!

With more and more people living in small spaces, custom-made, built-in kitchen furniture will become all the rage again. An advantage of built-in cabinetry is that it’s usually a lot cheaper than buying furniture and appliances separately. But with modern design taking over everything from buildings to bed sheets, kitchen cabinets won’t be an exception. With a wide variety of styles to choose from, you can find one that goes perfectly with your kitchen and home design.
Induction stoves are becoming the norm
Right now, induction stoves are available in a lot of high-end kitchens. However, if you’re looking to replace your stove over the next few years, it might be a good idea to wait for induction cooktops to go more mainstream. According to one survey from 2021, almost half of all American households plan on purchasing an induction range or cooktop in their next kitchen renovation—and that’s probably not going to change in 2022.
