Telehealth Psychological Counselling Services & Psychologist Fees in Melbourne

At Grounded Life Psychology, compassionate and professional support is available no matter where you live. Through secure telehealth sessions, clients can access high-quality Psychological Counselling Services in a way that is flexible, confidential, and tailored to individual needs. Whether you are navigating trauma, fertility challenges, anxiety, depression, or major life changes, telehealth psychology provides a supportive space to work with an experienced clinical psychologist from the comfort of your own home.

Telehealth psychology offers a convenient and effective alternative to face-to-face sessions, while maintaining the same professional standards of care. Sessions are conducted via secure video or phone, ensuring privacy and confidentiality at all times. This approach is particularly beneficial for people with busy schedules, limited mobility, or those living in rural and remote communities across Australia.

Specialised Areas of Support

Grounded Life Psychology provides telehealth counselling across a wide range of concerns. Trauma therapy is a key area of practice, with a strong focus on safety and effectiveness when working through traumatic experiences via telehealth. Extensive experience and training ensure that clients feel supported throughout the process.

Fertility counselling is also offered, providing a non-judgemental and understanding environment for individuals and couples facing fertility-related stress, grief, or uncertainty. In addition, support is available for general depression, anxiety, and adjustment to life changes, helping clients regain balance and confidence during challenging times.

Telehealth psychology is especially valuable for people in rural and remote communities. Living and working in these areas can be deeply rewarding, yet isolation and limited access to local mental health services can take a toll. Having lived and worked in remote areas in Australia and overseas, Christine understands both the joys and the challenges that come with remote life. This insight allows for a more empathetic and practical approach to counselling.

Health professionals, in particular, may find it difficult to seek support locally due to confidentiality concerns. Telehealth offers a discreet option to access professional help without compromising privacy. While health workers can greatly benefit from this service, telehealth psychology is equally suitable for anyone seeking a convenient and confidential way to look after their mental health.

Psychology Fees and Medicare Rebates

Grounded Life Psychology is committed to transparency around Psychologist Fees Melbourne, ensuring clients can make informed decisions about their care. Christine sees clients privately and through Medicare. With a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from a GP, eligible clients can access up to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year.

The standard session fee is $240. With a valid MHCP, the Medicare rebate is $145.25, resulting in a gap payment of $94.75. Appointments after 4:30pm incur an additional $20 surcharge. From 1 July 2025, a processing fee of approximately $6 will apply unless payment is made via PayID.

A limited number of clients are seen through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). These sessions require a valid DVA referral and must be held during standard hours due to DVA fee limits.

Sessions held outside normal office settings, including outreach work in remote areas, are $275. These attract a Medicare rebate of $165.95, leaving a gap of $109.05.

Christine is also qualified to provide Medicare Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling. Eligible clients may receive up to three sessions per pregnancy, with a Medicare rebate of $70.85 per session. Session fees remain the same as standard appointments.

Please note that Grounded Life Psychology does not offer bulk billing and does not see clients under WorkCover or TAC.

EMDR Therapy Cost and Coverage

Many clients enquire about EMDR therapy cost. The good news is that EMDR therapy fees are the same as standard psychology session fees. With a valid referral, EMDR therapy is eligible for Medicare rebates, just like other counselling services, although it is not bulk billed.

The number of EMDR sessions required varies depending on individual needs. Some people may see benefits within 12 sessions, while others, particularly those with complex trauma, may require 20 sessions or more. EMDR therapy is offered in Melbourne and via telehealth across Australia, providing flexible access to this evidence-based treatment.

Cancellation Policy

Due to high demand for appointments, a strict cancellation policy applies. A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to avoid fees. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice incur a 50% fee, while cancellations within 24 hours or non-attendance incur a 100% fee. Sessions may move between face-to-face and telehealth if either the client or practitioner is unwell.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, isolated, anxious, or simply in need of support, Grounded Life Psychology offers professional telehealth counselling designed to help you feel grounded and supported, wherever you are.
