Resting my head on the trunk of a worn-down tree, I noted the many ideas of tormenting people into my journal. Lately, Nerony is in need for creativity with the torturing department, and the witches are getting restless. They are being bored to death without their new toys. I'm being bored to death. I believe that we had always lacked in the creativity department. I looked down to my journal to see the past ideas:
- Abduct children and make them sources for life-expandency
- Display corpses on monuments
- Brutally kill people
I slammed my notebook flat onto the ground. Pages flipped revealing the past notes my predecessors had scemed. Nerony had forced this project onto others, and the ones that failed were converted to energy, losing their chance to live in this world. We're destroying ourselves.
Frustrated, I grabbed my book and shoved it into my satchel. Holding onto my memory, I sprinted to the water and temperatures began to rise. Steam began to rise and my soggy clothes became dry. If I hadn't entered the water, I would have set the whole forest to ablaze, and Nerony would have disliked my action dearly.
After many moments of my tantrum, I sensed an extreme amount of magic, and my rage has ceased. It was a calming magic and it felt cool. I stared at the water. Tears were strolling across my tanned skin and it dripped like a stalagmite from my chin. My eyes burned amber and turned to brown, the original color of my eyes. My reflection made me look as a normal boy. As I heard steps approaching to my left, I felt suffocated under the magic force drawing closer and closer. I turned to the person, and I was shocked.
A boy that was younger than me had silver hair and pale blue eyes. He looked at me like any other person he could have known. He was about my height when I jumped out of the river. His pale skin murdered my eyes. The sun was setting behind him, making him look like an angel from the myths. He was pure.
The moment felt so peaceful but threatening. I ran away from the boy. Nerony had members who could wield pure magic, but they weren't as murderous as him. I didn't stay long enough to figure which of the pure elements he was.
Escape... Escape... Escape the purity…
My mind throbbed and my lungs began to kill me as I ran. Why did we meet? Fire and air magic sources being combined creates smoke, and it does not bode well for both users. Although he has an extreme amount of magic pressure, it wouldn't prevent him from using his magic. He suddenly stopped and this caused him to drop head-first to the ground.
My head was aching, but one thought continuously popped into my head: why didn't he react? He looked clueless when he jumped out of the water with dry clothes. He looked surprised - he looked like he didn't have any knowledge. He sat cross-legged as the sun set, thinking.
After seconds of thinking, I went into the satchel and grabbed my notebook. I flipped toward the back pages where the color changed to red and revealed a large symbol. Tearing the page apart, I made the decision to report my discovery.
Waking up the next morning at the base of a dead spruce tree, I stretched and warmed up my sore muscles to get the day ready. The fog would provide excellent cover when I exit the mountainous domain and enter the following domain.
When I was about to step out from my cover, I caught a glimpse of someone coming near, so I ducked and waited for the approaching person. It felt déjà vu when I ducked, but I knew that it wasn't. My distant memory of her felt like a dream.
The boy I met had appeared, and I held my breath. To my surprise, the magic pressure I had felt yesterday had practically vanished. He continued to walk past me and his feet were being dragged. until he paused and picked up a book. The only thought: I forgot to grab my book.
Chances of the book returning to me began to cease as I watched him move further into the fog. I have to get it back.
