Gabapentin is a drug that was first approved by the FDA in 1995 for the treatment of epilepsy. Since then, it has been used off-label for many different conditions including fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, and restless leg syndrome.

It is a medication that works by binding to certain receptors in the brain. These receptors are called alpha 2 delta subunits and they help regulate neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. By blocking these receptors, gabapentin decreases the amount of neurotransmitters released in the brain.

The exact mechanism of action is still not fully understood, but it is believed that it may work by increasing GABA levels in the brain.

There are several studies showing that gabapentin can be effective at treating chronic pain. In fact, some people have reported using it to treat their anxiety and depression.

In addition to its use for pain management, gabapentin has been shown to decrease seizures in children with Dravet Syndrome.
