The story goes back a long way, to an exchange stay abroad. Coincidences should lead one to discover how cheap glasses really could be. The contrast between newly purchased expensive glasses from Norway, to newly purchased glasses produced on the same spectacle label in Mexico was a triggering factor. The price difference between Norway and Mexico was an a-ha experience.

The founders of the company
A few years later, the founders of the company, Øystein Sandø and Ole Kr. S. Langaunet's job of mapping the market for visual aids in Scandinavia. One quickly discovered an industry with huge profits and insane mark-ups on the goods sold. After having the job with concept and suppliers on a part-time basis, Extra Optical was founded in 2012. As the first online store for glasses in Norway, the learning curve was steep, but the interest from customers was enormous - obviously it was not just us who thought glasses were a costly evil .

As the first online store for glasses in Norway, the learning curve was steep, but the interest from customers was enormous - obviously it was not just us who thought glasses were a costly evil . Over the years, the company has grown, and now we sell glasses and contact lenses to the whole of Scandinavia. Still from our head office in Trondheim, and still with a focus on price and range.
Today, we are proud to say that we are Norway's largest independent eyewear store.
