Sony unveiled groundbreaking innovations across mobility, sports, and content creation at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The prestigious tech trade show served as the perfect platform for Sony to demonstrate how its advancements are set to revolutionize multiple industries.
Afeela 1 EV: Sony’s Automotive Masterpiece
One of the most talked-about highlights of CES 2025 was the Afeela 1 electric vehicle (EV) from Sony Honda Mobility. Initially introduced as a concept in 2022, the Afeela 1 is now open for reservations in California, priced at $89,900 (€86,500). Deliveries are slated to begin in mid-2026.
Boasting 800 trillion tera operations per second (TOPS) of computing power and 40 state-of-the-art driver-assistance sensors, the Afeela 1 sets a new benchmark for safety and convenience in EVs.
“Afeela’s AI perception system recognizes its surroundings with precision. Its AI planner crafts optimal driving strategies,” explained Yasuhida Mizuno, CEO of Sony Honda Mobility, during the CES 2025 keynote.

Revolutionizing Sports and Content Creation
Sony also made waves in sports technology and content creation. The coach headset, developed in collaboration with Horizon’s 5G network, is set to enhance communication and operational efficiency for NFL teams starting in the 2025 season.
In addition, Sony debuted the PXO AKIRA virtual production system, designed to transform vehicle filming. By integrating robotic cameras, motion platforms, and LED displays, PXO AKIRA simulates real-world environments without requiring physical locations.
“It rotates 360 degrees and syncs seamlessly with virtual environments on LED screens, delivering a more realistic filming experience,” shared Johnny Slow, CEO of Pixomondo, a Sony subsidiary.
XYN 3D Scanning Technology: A New Era for Asset Creation
Sony’s XYN system stole the spotlight with its ability to scan real-world objects and spaces, converting them into ultra-detailed 3D assets. This technology holds immense potential in film, gaming, and virtual reality.
“XYN uses advanced algorithms and mirrorless camera imagery to accelerate the asset creation process,” explained Thaisa Yamamura, head of XR Business Development at Sony Electronics. Additionally, users can enhance the assets by incorporating motion data through a dedicated app.
