A Course in Miracles

of the exercise is to allow the ideas presented in the text to be transferred in a meaningful way to every person and all that is seen, so that you can realize a world in which everything is held in love.

Many of the ideas in the workbook will appear quite radical when you first read them, and some may seem to be untrue or even illogical. However, the goal of the workbook is to teach you how to use these ideas in your daily life, without judgment or condemnation.

You should read the workbook one lesson at a time, and give yourself plenty of time to think about each idea before moving on. You should also take care to not let the ideas get in the way of your day-to-day life, or you will become overwhelmed by them and lose interest in them.

Each day's workbook lesson is a single idea, and it is stated first, followed by instructions for applying the idea to your own situation in the world. It is not the idea itself that is important, but how you apply it to your own circumstances that will determine the quality of the outcome.

There are a number of different ways to practice the ideas in this workbook, and it is important that you choose a method that will suit your needs. Generally speaking, you will find that the exercises are easy to do and will not require much time at all.

The Teachings

A Course in Miracles teachings are based on the belief that everything is created by God. Therefore, everything that is real and true cannot be changed by time and experience.

The Course's thought system combines spiritual inspiration with a deep psychological understanding of the nature of human perception and identity. It is a progressive path to undo the illusion of separation from the Oneness that is the source of all life.

It is a unique approach to mind training that allows people to move from a thought system of fear and duality to a thought system of love, inner peace, and happiness. It also helps them to realize that the "personal self" is actually a fragment of the one consciousness of God.

Although the Text and Workbook are written in a poetic, blank verse style, the daily lessons offer a very practical approach to unwinding the ego thought system and learning how to trust in the Spirit of God. It is a day by day, step by step approach to clearing away the ego debris from the mind and learning how to let go of judgment, guilt, criticism, and condemnation.

In this way, the Course helps to heal abandonment, victimhood, and any other lifelong issues that seem impossible to solve. It does this through a series of carefully conceived exercises, one for every day of the year.

Each lesson is a step-by-step instruction in the Course's philosophy and teaches students how to move from the two thought systems of fear and duality into the One Thought of love, which is the source of all life. The goal of the Course is to help students understand that they are not separate from the One Thought of love and learn to forgive others as God forgave them.

The Course was written by Helen Schucman, a research psychologist raised by Jewish but non-religious parents. She wrote the text between 1965 and 1972 through a process of "inner dictation." The Foundation for A Course in Miracles was formed after her death to continue publishing her writings. The Course has sold more than three million copies worldwide and has influenced the lives of millions of people.

The Community

A miracle is an occurrence that does not fit into the natural order of events. It is an act of divine power and omnipotence that is performed in human circumstances. In Christianity, miracles are generally believed to be the work of Jesus or of those who follow him, but also of the Holy Spirit and of other spiritual forces in the world.

The Bible tells many stories of healings and other miraculous occurrences. The descriptions of these events in the Tanakh and in the New Testament are often very detailed. Some of them involve parts of the body that normally cannot be healed. Others deal with things like blindness or paralysis, and still others relate to life after death.

Christians believe that the miracles of Jesus were not merely works of God's omnipotence, but also works of love and mercy. These works were meant to show compassion toward sinful and suffering humanity, and to announce the Kingdom of God.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "Christ's compassion towards those who were sick and his many healings of every kind of infirmity are a resplendent sign that 'God has visited his people, and the kingdom of God is near at hand' (Catechism of the Catholic Church 548). In other words, these events are a way of testifying authoritatively to the work of the Son of God."

They serve as a preview or foretaste of what Jesus will accomplish when he comes again, including the establishment of a new heaven and a new earth. In the miracles that occurred during Jesus' lifetime, Jesus showed that he had the authority to save people from physical ills and from demon power.

He also taught that it is possible for a mustard seed of faith to move a mountain. These teachings are central to the Course in Miracles.

The Community of Miracles is a worldwide fellowship for people who are interested in studying the miracles teachings of A Course in Miracles and related spiritual teachings to heal their perceptions of themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. It is an invitation to share in a community of healing that supports all who are on the journey to enlightenment, and to learn how to live lives of peace and joy.
