Matteo Bavaresco Takes the Wheel at Ducab: What's Behind the CEO Switch

There's a new name at the top of Ducab's org chart. The UAE-headquartered cable and energy solutions company has confirmed that Matteo Bavaresco is stepping in as Group CEO, effective immediately — a move tied directly to the company's ambitions to grow faster on the world stage.

From Interim to Institutional Memory

The outgoing Interim Group CEO, Gert Hoefman, isn't disappearing from the picture. After a year steering the company through transition, Hoefman is moving into a Board of Directors seat, where he'll keep contributing to Ducab's strategic direction. It's a smoother handoff than most CEO changes — new operational leadership coming in, with the outgoing exec staying close enough to keep continuity intact.

A CEO Who's Already Run a Global Cable Business

What makes Bavaresco's appointment notable isn't just the title change — it's the résumé behind it. He joins Ducab directly from a CEO position at another international cable company, carrying 25-plus years of experience across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.

That's not a coincidental skill set. Ducab has quietly become a global operation, now supplying customers in 75 countries from its UAE base. Bringing in someone who's already navigated that kind of cross-continental scaling — rather than promoting from within — suggests the board wanted proven international chops, not just industry familiarity.

Hoefman's own comments during the handover leaned into this point, describing Bavaresco's transformation and global-industry experience as the right fit for pushing Ducab into a more competitive phase.

The New Boss's Opening Pitch

Bavaresco, for his part, didn't waste time framing his arrival as timely. He described joining Ducab as landing at a "dynamic" moment — not only for the company, but for the UAE's industrial identity and the broader energy sector.

He also flagged Ducab's sustainability commitments and its role in the UAE's industrial growth story as things that pulled him toward the role, and pointed to team collaboration and innovation as where he plans to focus first.

Reading the Signal

CEO transitions rarely happen in a vacuum, and this one fits a pattern: a company that's already outgrown its regional roots bringing in a leader whose entire track record is built on doing exactly that at scale. Ducab isn't just filling a vacancy — it's making a statement about where it intends to compete next.

With Hoefman still in the room via the boardroom and Bavaresco now running day-to-day operations, Ducab looks set up to chase international growth without losing the institutional knowledge that got it this far.
