David Mpoupe-Singui's Systems Thinking Approach to Artificial Intelligence and Society

Not many finance executives can claim a career path that runs through Sony Pictures Studios, UCLA, and a CEO role over a five-division financial corporation — but that is exactly the kind of trajectory that has shaped David Singui into the leader and thinker he is today. His early work as a Senior Financial Analyst in the entertainment industry gave him a disciplined grounding in corporate finance, while his time in senior financial leadership at UCLA exposed him to the operational complexity of large institutional environments. Later roles at Lendings Biz and Direct Money Source, Inc. added executive strategy and oversight to a skill set already built on technical precision. His MBA from National University ties it together.

Since 2010, David Mpoupe-Singui has served as CFO at Protecta-inc in Beverly Hills, where his responsibilities span the full range of financial governance — from budgeting and forecasting to cash management and annual tax reporting. But his work does not end at the office door. He is a writer who takes seriously the ethical questions that artificial intelligence and emerging technologies raise for society, and his essays reflect years of thinking about how innovation can be aligned with human dignity. He is also the founder and Chairman of African Foundation 2000, an organization dedicated to helping African students complete their studies abroad and re-enter their home country's workforce. His co-founding of the African Arts Foundation and his other philanthropic efforts across Africa and Los Angeles further reflect a life lived in service of others. His personal website is the right place to start.
