How Long It Takes to Beat God of War Ragnarok Potentially Revealed in New Report

God of War Ragnarok is easily one of the most anticipated games of the fall, with many excited to jump once more into the Nine Realms as Kratos and Atreus settle their score with Thor, seek out new allies, and attempt to prevent the titular Ragnarok. Per a new report, fans may now know how much time they'll spend as Kratos.

Insider Gaming, the new site launched by known insider Tom Henderson, has shared details about the main mission, side quests, and even the length of the cinematics in God of War Ragnarok. Neither Sony nor Santa Monica Studio has remarked on this and aren't likely to do as such, meaning fans should think about it while considering other factors. However, the source is dependable, and the information makes sense.

According to Henderson, God of War Ragnarok clocks in at 40 hours total, all-in. This does rely upon someone's playstyle, of course, but this means fans can anticipate a sizeable game (though they previously did). Of those 40 hours, it is said that 20 hours are devoted to the main mission. The main mission itself features 3.5 hours of cinematics, boasting a truly immersive, cinematic, and legendary tale. Henderson's sources clarify that the remaining 16.5 hours are committed to gameplay in God of War Ragnarok, and this story length puts the game on part with the last section in the franchise.

That leaves an additional 20 hours for Santa Monica Studio to fill, and this reportedly breaks down into 19 hours of gameplay associated with side quests. One hour here is committed to cinematics. While God of War Ragnarok's story is viable with 2018's main story, this means there are about 8-9 additional hours of side quests per Inside Gaming's report. The typical chance to beat God of War, all-in, was 32 hours, so it seems Ragnarok is a little more filled.

It's significant that God of War Ragnarok's PS4 document size has leaked online, coming in around 90.6GBs, and that is double the size of the 2018 story. The PS5 document size is likely to be smaller, but this means there's a ton of content and quality stuffed into the game. It's precisely very thing everybody expects from Santa Monica Studio, it would seem.

Despite the fact that the game releases one month from now, Sony and Santa Monica have been hush on the game. God of War Ragnarok will likely uncover more this month, and this potentially lines up with PlayStation Showcase rumors. It all remains to be seen, of course.
