Student Performance Management (SPM) is a system that uses data to drive decisions on how to change behaviors and practices in order to improve student performance. The use of SPM is growing, as it allows educators and managers to be more strategic in the way they target resources.

The following are some common features of a Student Performance Management system:

We often think of students as having one goal in mind, the degree but in reality, students can have a number of goals for themselves- be it getting into grad school or securing employment. It is important that we take all these goals into consideration when measuring success.

Schools should measure the absenteeism rate (percentage of days absent) to find out if there are any underlying patterns or chronic absenteeists in the district.

Absenteeism is a problem in schools because of the various negative effects it can have on students and staff. Chronic absenteeism, which refers to missing 10% or more days from school over the course of a year, can have serious consequences for students’ educational careers.
