What is Amazon EMR? | Intellipaat

Hadoop is usually responsible for processing big data and analysing massive amounts of data, as well as running multiple clusters at the same time, but there are some issues with installing Hadoop, integrating it with other software, improving the parameters, and configuring certain parts of it. This is where Amazon EMR comes in.

Elastic Map Reduce (Amazon EMR) is a cloud service designed to manage, analyse, and process large amounts of data (aka big data). EMR ensures that the configuration required to manage big data is kept to a minimum, avoiding the use of complex in-house cluster computing.

Upskilling and current in the workplace require AWS Course.

EMR is based on Apache Hadoop because it supports the processing of large datasets in a distributed environment. MapReduce is a framework for running code that processes large amounts of unstructured data in parallel across a distributed cluster of processors. MapReduce can also be used with standalone computers.

The term 'elastic' refers to the service's ability to scale itself up and down based on demand and usage at any given time.
