Silver

Winning ranked matches is important, of course, but so is earning and losing a certain amount of RR, which stands for Rank Rating. Players earn a small amount of RR after each Competitive match, and if they reach 100 RR they will move to the next rank (or tier).
To gain a larger amount of RR, players need to win a lot of Competitive matches in a short period of time, and perform exceptionally well in those games. This includes getting a lot of kills, but it also means playing defensively and not throwing rounds away as much as possible. Calm and calculated play will help you avoid this and still make progress towards your goal of gaining a higher rank.
Once you have earned enough RR, the system will pair you with opposing player parties that are within two ranks of your current rank. This is designed to prevent you from being matched with low-level players or ones that are too far ahead of you in rank.

Platinum
