Amchur powder

Amchur powder, or amchur powder, is a spicy spice made from dried green, unripe mangoes. Often used in Indian cooking, it gives food a tangy, sour taste that is reminiscent of tamarind but with a unique fruity scent.

Green mangoes that aren’t quite ripe are picked, cut, and sun-dried until they crack into brittle pieces to form green mango powder. The mango slices are ground into a fine Amchur powder once they have dried, creating a versatile seasoning that improves the flavor of a variety of foods.

In curries, chutneys, marinades, and spice mixes, amchur powder is frequently added to provide a sour note that counterbalances the richness of other components. It is especially well-liked in vegetarian and vegan cooking, as it gives food a welcome burst of acidity without requiring the use of vinegar or citrus fruits.
