Thousands of New Zealanders are afflicted with a critical illness each year. Serious ailments impose a portion of the emotional and financial burden on those in close proximity to the individual affected. A considerable number of New Zealanders are unable to finance and emotionally manage the exorbitant expenses associated with hospitalizations and medical treatment for severe illnesses. Furthermore, critical illnesses often lead to irreversible disabilities or fatalities, consequences that have extensive ramifications for communities and individuals alike. Although certain catastrophic diseases have been more survivor-friendly due to medical advancements, much remains to be done to ensure that all New Zealanders have affordable access to preventative, early diagnostic, and treatment services. It is crucial to inform the public about critical illness in New Zealand so that they may take steps to enhance the health outcomes of themselves and their loved ones.
