A SOBER LOOK AT ALL THE PROS AND CONS OF CANNABIS DISPENSARY
Religious war has been raging over hemp for a long time. For some, Cannabis Dispensary is an underrated gateway drug that triggers psychosis; for others an unjustly demonized luxury product and at the same time a medical all-purpose weapon. Hemp ( Cannabis sativa ) is one of the oldest useful plants and has been used as a medicinal plant for thousands of years. Its use as an intoxicant was criminalized in the 20th century; Cannabis has been banned in Switzerland since 1951 . Recently, there has been a surge in interest in the medicinal utility of the plant. Indeed, there are increasing numbers of reports attributing therapeutic effects to cannabis and its numerous active ingredients. It could even be used as a potential antibiotic , says a recent study.
The hemp plant contains over 450 different substances - including numerous cannabinoids , of which only three are responsible for the intoxicating effects of cannabis. The best known of these is THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol). Other cannabinoids, such as the well-known cannabidiol (CBD) , are not psychoactive. Medicines like Sativex contain cannabidiol.
The criminalization of the plant is likely to be responsible for the fact that science has long held back researching its medicinal effectiveness. Accordingly, there are field reports on numerous applications, but only a few clinical studies. This means that the medical effectiveness of cannabinoids has not been scientifically proven in many cases.
Both THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) have been shown to have an analgesic effect, especially in (chronic) neuropathic pain (pain caused by an injury or malfunction of the nervous system) and cancer-related pain. In the case of acute pain, however, they work poorly or not at all.
Cannabinoids are at least ten times weaker than morphine. In addition, around 30 percent of patients treated with cannabis do not respond at all. Cannabis Dispensary can also be combined with opiates. The effect of cannabis against side effects of cancer chemotherapy such as nausea and vomiting has been well documented. However, THC must be administered in relatively high doses , which can lead to psychological side effects. In lower doses, cannabinoids can improve the effectiveness of other anti-nausea drugs.
The appetite-stimulating effect of cannabinoids has also been well documented, both in HIV patients and in patients with tumor diseases . The effect starts already at a low dosage. There are also positive reports in cases of Alzheimer's patients , in whom confused behavior also decreased. The appetite-stimulating effect of the cannabinoids was significantly stronger compared to placebo.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) can cause spasms. Cannabinoids can reduce these moderate and severe cramps - according to German studies with twice as many test persons as when giving placebos. At the same time, the pain intensity decreased, but only in women. The muscle-relaxing effect also occurs in other spasms, for example in paraplegics, but is not so clearly demonstrated there.
In Parkinson's disease, the muscle tension is constantly increased , especially in the arms and legs; Patients often suffer from painful cramps. There are testimonials like the one in the video below that see great relief from these cramps after using cannabis.
In contrast, clinical studies have not yet been able to achieve any clear results. It is also not clear what interactions exist between Cannabis Dispensary and Parkinson's drugs. In addition to being a pain reliever, cannabinoids may also have anti-inflammatory effects in inflammatory pain syndromes such as ulcerative colitis (a chronic bowel disease) or arthritis. Thus the ETH study has demonstrated that the substance beta-caryophyllene, containing 12 to 35 percent of the essential oil of the cannabis plant makes up, activates the CB2 receptor in the central nervous system. This in turn reduces the release of inflammatory cytokines.
