Botox for beginners

Whatever your age, Botox significantly improves the appearance of your skin and has become the treatment of choice for women and men around the world. But what is Botox? How is it administered? How long have you actually benefited from it?

So many questions out there, especially if you are considering using Botox for the first time?

You will probably feel nervous at the thought of a Botox treatment. Because let's face it, you all also think about the probability of what could go wrong, right? And with the fear stories circulating about Botox, that's not surprising.

The most important thing to remember is that when properly administered, Botox is the best way to take years off your face without undergoing an invasive and painful facial surgery. So make sure that the doctor treating you is actually BIG registered and has completed the education and courses necessary to treat you safely and professionally.

GETTING BOTOX FOR THE FIRST TIME: WHEN SHOULD YOU START?

We are regularly asked what the optimal age is to start using Botox. The simple answer is that you can get Botox as soon as you feel like it.
Most patients who use Botox do so to reduce facial wrinkles or lines that occur with natural aging, but this can really happen at any point in your adult life, so the optimal age for starting a Botox treatment ranges from patient to patient.

DOES HAVING BOTOX INJECTIONS FOR THE FIRST TIME HURT?

As with any other injection, Botox can be slightly painful when the needle is inserted, but the pain is usually very minor and short-lived. Most of our patients find the idea that they are going to have an injection more scary than the actual injection.
The needles used in the administration of Botox are extremely fine and small, so they cause no pain other than a little stinging.

GETTING BOTOX FOR THE FIRST TIME: HOW IS IT DELIVERED?

Once you have an appointment to get Botox for the first time, the procedure is quite simple:

The area on your face is completely cleansed and sterilized, then a very fine needle is inserted into the skin. You may notice a few small bumps where the injections were made, but they tend to disappear quickly, usually within about ten minutes.

GETTING BOTOX FOR THE FIRST TIME: WHAT TO EXPECT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

If you're getting Botox for the first time, you'll want to know what to expect in terms of side effects. Many patients report very few side effects after Botox treatment uses, but occasionally some patients experience side effects such as headache, neck pain or temporary muscle stiffness. WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER USING BOTOX FOR THE FIRST TIME: WHEN WILL IT TAKE FULL EFFECT?

Botox usually takes about ten days to take full effect. In the second week after your treatment, you will notice that your skin not only feels smoother, but also appears fresher. This look can last up to three or four months. By the time you notice a gradual muscle movement returning to the treated area, most patients return for a second round of Botox. Each patient can decide how often he or she decides to have a Botox treatment and this will depend on the amount of movement he or she wants to see in their face.
