Dually trucks are built for heavy-duty work. Featuring dual rear wheels, reinforced axles, and higher payload and towing capacities, they are made to handle loads that would overwhelm a single-rear-wheel truck. Dually trucks undergo greater mechanical stress in nearly every system, which means routine maintenance alone isn’t sufficient. Certain components require more frequent inspections, a heightened attention to detail, and a maintenance approach that aligns with how these trucks are actually used. Because dual trucks are wider, proper lighting is crucial for safety. It's important to regularly inspect clearance lights, brake lights, and turn signals to ensure they are functioning correctly. Additionally, trailer wiring connections and brake controllers should not be overlooked. Corroded plugs or damaged wiring can cause unreliable trailer braking or lighting, increasing the risk while driving. Batteries and charging systems should also be tested periodically, especially in trucks that operate multiple accessories or tow equipment.

Keeping a detailed maintenance log helps track service intervals for tires, brakes, drivetrain fluids, and suspension components. Adjusting maintenance frequency based on truck usage rather than just mileage can save money and reduce downtime.
