At the end of the 8th century in Japan, a legend about mochi was heard. According to this legend, a rich man made a flat mochi with the leftover rice cake and shot an arrow at it, then the mochi turned into a white bird and flew away, after that the rich man's rice field dried up and that man became a poor and lonely old man.

Among the people of East Asia, this legend shows that mochi sweets have a spiritual value in addition to their high nutritional value.

Mochi sweets became famous as Japanese New Year sweets from 794 to 1185 AD, and in the 10th century, Japanese people prepared all kinds of mochi and took them as offerings to the gods in Shinto religious ceremonies. There are various theories about where the name Mochi comes from and why it is known by this name.

Some claim that it comes from the verb motsu and indicates that mochi is a food given to humans by the gods.

Rice mochi should be soaked overnight in water and then steamed. The most difficult part of making it is pounding and crushing the rice, which must be done properly. The important thing in preparing mochi is that the more you mix the raw ingredients of this pastry, the better the shape and result will be.

Another type of mochi is matcha-flavored mochi, which has a jelly-like and soft core, which has made this sweet popular.
