Word Power #1: Exploring the world of word frequency and how to speak consciously.
If you’ve been part of the spiritual community for a while, you’ve probably heard the idea that 'words have frequency.' You may pay close attention to the words you use, making every positive effort to avoiding swearing, believing that 'bad words' manifest negative realities. While this is generally true, there’s more to it. In the first article (this one) of my Word Power series, I’ll dive into the background of word frequencies. This topic fascinates me, as I’ve noticed many intriguing energetic patterns connected to words, which is what inspired me to write this article.
Btw, new series.
There are several topics I’m inspired to explore, but since one article can only cover so much - and most importantly, I don’t want to overwhelm you with an hour-long read (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating) - I’ve decided to present them as a series.
Words have frequency.
Everything is energy.
For those of you who are spiritual 'junkies,' you’ve probably heard this a thousand times by now. Though it’s a basic concept, it’s still true: Each word has a unique vibrational frequency that corresponds to a specific meaning or reality, regardless of the language spoken. For example, the English word 'Love' and the Chinese character 愛 both mean 'love,' but they share the same vibrational frequency, even though they look and sound different.
As a bilingual, I find it fascinating to observe these languages, their underlying energetics, and even the changes they’ve undergone throughout history, which I’ll dive deeper into this in future article of this series.
Sound.
Every word carries a tone - or a combination of tones - that holds the vibrational frequency of its meaning in the form of sound. Sound is one of the primal elements of energy that shapes our reality.
In biblical text, God says:
Let there be Light.
Sound manifests light, followed by symbols as frequency slows down.
Our spoken words are incredibly powerful; they are a mixture of sounds or tones in specific sequences that create unique frequencies. This means we have infinite possibilities of frequencies that can shape infinite realities. Our vocal cords, the organic sound instruments, is one of the great powers we are gifted as humans, allow us to co-create our world. Your voice is truly powerful - it is a manifesting tool for creation.
Since we live in a world of duality, we don't just create desired realities - we can also create negative ones with our powerful vocal instruments. In fact, that’s most of us create most of the time when we intentionally or unintentionally talk ill to ourselves or others. This is why people in the spiritual community often emphasise the importance of being mindful of our word choices. Some words have even become 'taboos' or 'words that should not be spoken.' There is a strong belief that using negative words will manifest negative realities in our lives. I’ve also noticed that some people believe 'if you’re swearing, you’re not spiritual.'
In my perspective, this is not 100% true. However, the above explanation is a very linear way of describing how word frequency works. Given that energy and frequency are inherently dynamic, many factors can influence the creation of complex physical realities. I’ll explain more about this later in the article.
Symbol.
Before I explain further the dynamic nature of how word frequency creates our reality or realities, I also want to mention words in another form - Symbols.

When our ancestors were creating symbols as a means of communication, they also assigned meanings to those symbols. Each symbol then carried a specific frequency. This process was done through the conscious intention of creating it.
It might sound strange to comprehend, but if you recall yourself as a young kid, those squiggles (letters, words, numbers, and punctuation) printed in children's books probably looked like meaningless squiggles more than anything else. Our brains don’t register them as something meaningful until we learn to attach a meaning to those squiggling marks on paper (or screen, nowadays).
The meanings of words are Learned.
And THAT makes our 3D (aka physical) world super interesting.
Words interwoven with the collective consciousness.
What makes this interesting is that words are used as a means of communication by individuals and communities (the collective). And every human or community delivers word frequency in their own unique way.
What I mean by that is, even though words are created to carry certain frequencies, the person who holds the intention to deliver the message has their own frequency that accompanies it, which then create a different version of the word or sentence energetically. Whenever I talk about this, I envision a river carrying our intention, emotions, and thought forms that are infused in the words we use. Our personal energetic contribution interweaves into the frequency of the words, forming different varieties of frequencies surrounding the words used.
This is the same on a larger scale. When a group of people, a tribe, or a society uses words with shared mental and emotional energies, along with similar intentions, the power of word programming amplifies.
So, is swearing bad?
So now, if you ask: Is swearing a taboo for creating negative realities? My answer is yes and no.
Yes – they carry low frequency or twisted meanings. Even some words that are neither 'bad' nor twisted have been used with infused low-frequency meanings and emotions by the collective (or individual), making them 'bad.'
No – Even though words have their original meanings, it depends on how the person uses them. What intention are you holding while using swear words? What emotions are you carrying? Are you using them to attack or harm others, or even yourself, even if physical harm is not present?
If you use a swear word while carrying an excitement energy with the intention of looking forward to something great happening, then you’re likely not delivering harmful energy.
I personally don’t find swearing serve any practical purpose in sentences other than emphasising emotions. But even when swearing in anger with the intention to express it and not the intention of directly attacking others or yourself may still have negative impact due to the emotional charge you give to it. The ideal is to release negative emotions in a healthy, healing way without causing harm to others and ourselves.
Prompts.
It would be a good practice to increase self-awareness by noticing not only your word choices but also the ways you use words on daily basis. Some prompts you may consider asking yourself when you speak:
- What is my intention when I say (fill in the blank)?
- What emotions am I experiencing now? Is it wise for me to use these words while experiencing this emotion?
- With my intention and emotions, is what I want to say going to hurt others energetically?
- How can I rephrase the sentence so that it helps me change my emotional state and perspective in the moment?
- Can I change my current perspective (which could also change with my current emotions) on this person or situation to a more beneficial one before I choose the words I use?
Bliss,
Peace 🫒
